02/16/23 - OMRL Board Position Openings - 2023 Season

ATTENTION IN THE PADDOCK

While reviewing/updating the OMRL By-Laws for the 2023 season, it has come to the attention that we need to fill the role of Safety Director on the board.

The role for the safety director within the By-Laws is defined as the following:

Safety Director - Responsible for assembling Corner workers, conducting tech inspection of all motorcycles and rider equipment. May enlist the help of any other league member to assist in the process.

Andrew Farkas has asked to have his name placed into the hat to move to this position.

As a result of Farkas' request, he has officially resigned his position as club treasurer and, therefore, the club will need to follow the election procedure for that role as well.

The treasurer position is defined as the following:

Treasurer - Works with Secretary and team during checkin/registration; will compose/submit event recap sheets showing profit/loss for each event; make deposits into the OMRL bank account in a timely manner after each event.

If you would like to nominate yourself to either one of these elected positions, you MUST submit an email to ohiominiroadracingleague@gmail.com. Within the email, please include any pertinent information you would like the club to know on why you feel you would fit well within the role.

Deadline to submit your nomination will be February 28, 2023. As a member of the board, you are required to attend at least 50% of the events for the year. If you are unable to attend a minimum of 50% of the events, you will be deemed ineligible.

The election date will be posted once the remaining board has had an opportunity to review all potential candidates. To anyone who was an official 2022 Season License Holder will be able to cast their vote on who they would like to elect to fill these two positions.

If we only receive one person for each role, they will win by default as unopposed.

Look forward to updating everyone after Feb. 28, 2023 with more details!

01/13/22 - CRF100 Stockmoto Rear Spring Rule Change

Attention in the paddock!

Hope everyone had a great holiday season with their friends and families! We are just over one week away from our yearly awards banquet. We hope to see everyone show up for some karting, food, and celebration.

The board has voted and wanted to update everyone of our stock moto CRF100 riders on a rule update.

We know that parts for the CRF100 are becoming scarce and far more difficult to find. As a result, the club is always investigating different options that maintain the spirit of a low cost competitive class. Rear shocks have been incredibly difficult to find and many requested an alternative option. We have reviewed two shocks that we believe to be very comparable to the stock shock that we will be allowing in the stock moto class on the CRF100.

First Shock Option: Kitaco Shock Absorber 520-1122220

Second Shock Option: Shift Up Reinforced Rear Shock 201588

We will still allow riders to change the spring if they feel necessary.

We will be updating the 2022 rulebook to update these new permissions.

As always, please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

OMRL uses the awards banquet as an opportunity to discuss other rules changes that are brought up by the racing community. If you have any rules clarifications or adjustments that you wish to see for 2022, please bring them with you to the banquet for discussion.

Look forward to seeing most of you next weekend!

06/14/21 - PIRC - Round-4 This Weekend!

It's race week. We are heading to PIRC for Round-4 of the 2021 Season!

Great News for the paddock! We have claimed the track for Saturday practice between 4-8pm!

Remember to PRE-REGISTER for Sunday if you haven't already!

PIRC is the best track that we host and we hope to see everyone make the trip! If you've never ridden it before, you are in for a treat! This track has it all - long straights, flowing sections, elevation changes, technical turns, etc. The surface is amazing and the facilities are awesome!

Friendly reminder that PIRC pricing is different from the rest of the tracks we attend due to the higher cost of renting the track. Racing fees are $100 for Sunday and $50 for Saturday Practice. Because we are renting the track for Saturday evening, they usually do NOT allow us to split time during the day with karts.

Camping is allowed Friday night for those who are able to make it.

Hope everyone is as excited as I am for this weekend! See you all then!

01/23/21 - 2020 OMRL Awards Banquet Recap

Thank you everyone for attending the 2020 OMRL Awards Banquet!

For those who were unable to attend, please see below for a recap of everything discussed.

1.  GP-1, GP-2, GP-3 Classes Introduced.  Will race with F-1, F-2 Expert, and F-3 Expert, but grid separately.  Scoring will be separate of their respective Formula Class.  Bikes that fit in the F-1, F-2, or F-3 class, but have a GP chassis will fit into these new classes (ie. Ohvale, Buccimoto, NSR, etc).

2.   Race Fees for all tracks except Pitt Race went from $50 to $60 and Pitt Race increases from $100 to $110.  This does not include transponder rental or insurance.

3.  Failure to pre-register PRIOR to the start of registration for a race will incur a $10 administration fee.  Season License Holders will get (1) free pass on this per season.  If you fail to pre-register and wish to use your free pass, we will punch your season license card.

4.  Reminder that alcohol and drugs are to NEVER be consumed prior to Racing or Practice.  There is a ZERO TOLERANCE policy on this.

5.  It is incredibly sad to announce, but news that the landowner of CRP has passed away and Circleville Raceway Park has been shut down indefinitely.  The board will continue to stay in contact with the family members; trying everything we can to see if it is possible to race there in 2021 or in the future at all.  In the meantime, the Board is working diligently with the expectation that we will NOT be able to race at CRP in the future to fill in the races with other tracks.  We will do our best to keep everyone informed on what is going on.

6.  Modification of the starting lights - Instead of the starting lights staging the lights 1-2-3-OFF, we will be staging all 3 lights simultaneously and then lights go off, the race will start.  Hopefully, this will help eliminate jump starting and allow the starter to be more aware of who potentially jump starts so they can penalize appropriately if the person doesn’t self penalize themselves.

7.  Addition of a heavyweight class.  Will be F-3 rules with 195lb min. Dry weight.  The class will NOT be separated by NOVICE or EXPERT, but by weight alone.  This will be a separate race and scored in the Championship!

8.  OMRL will have 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place Plaques created for those who finish on the Podium of races to be able to use for photos for their own use.  These plaques will be made available at the end of race days for anyone who wishes to get their photo taken after their races for finishing in the Top 3.

9.  Please remember we all represent OMRL when we are at the track.   We must make sure all decisions made during a race weekend are in the proper spirit of how we should conduct ourselves at the track.  Most of these tracks are graciously allowing us to camp there the entire weekend and we cannot be straining these relationships by acting unprofessionally.  If you notice others acting inappropriately, feel free to call them out or please reach out to a board member so we can make sure it is handled correctly.

10.  OMRL has created an Instagram.  Follow @OMRLMOTO for more Ohio’s Mini Racing Content.  Please feel free to  tag us in your photos as well.

Thank you all for being incredibly flexible this past year, creating an incredible 2020 season.  We are looking forward to the 2021 season.

09/02/20 - Attention Endurance Cup Racers

Attention in the paddock - Endurance Racers!!!

It appears many did not read the actual announcement, so I wanted to post a answers to a few questions I’ve been getting.

Toby Kemsuzian Financial Planner with Skylight Financial Group is providing food and beer/soda/water for all racers for after the event.  Skylight Financial will be bringing in a food truck for free food and he wants all the racers to take advantage of this.

Secondly, the race is FREE to all season license holders.  Anyone who plans to race that is not a season license holder will need to pay $20 entry fee.  (This does not include transponder rental or insurance - that will still be required from all racers/teams).

Lastly, there are a few guys still looking for teams.  Matthew Vodraska (exp) and Justin Paskey (exp. but can be considered a novice on your team because he was force bumped) and a few others.  Please make sure I have your teams documented on the original announcement.

Looking forward to seeing you all this weekend!!!

07/29/20 - OMRL Announces Skylight Financial Group Endurance Cup - 4 Hour Endurance Race at CRP!

We are pleased to announce the details to our endurance race this year, sponsored by Financial Planner Toby Kemsuzian and Skylight Financial Group.  Please check out the details of the event at https://omrlmoto.com/skylight-financial-group-endurance-cup

05/11/20 - Updated Policies for Round-2

It's RACE WEEK! Round-2 at CRP is just around the corner.

We are incredibly excited to host our first round of the year! While our excitement is high, we are still wanting to be safe. Therefore, we are going to be making a few announcements on policies that will be different this weekend than you may previously have experienced.

We will be opening registration a little earlier than normal to allow more time for registration to prevent people waiting in line. If you are looking to register, please be courteous and keep the numbers waiting in line to a minimum. We will provide a large number of pens to prevent multiple people from using the same pen at registration (you are encouraged to bring your own pen).

There will be no spectators allowed at the event! Only racers and necessary personnel (staff, starter, flaggers, parents of a racer, etc). We do not want any issues from outside forces saying we are being unsafe with the event, which is why this decision is being made. We are keeping the attendees to the required minimum.

Rider's meeting will be for new riders to OMRL. We might implement a rider's meeting video for everyone to watch with our basic safety rules, flag colors, etc. but will have a live rider's meeting for all new racers to OMRL.

All paddock areas should be safely distanced from each other. We will likely have quite a few people so we need to do the best we can at this to fit everyone but still remain a safe distance apart. All attendees need to follow proper social distancing guidelines and masks are recommended, but not required.

Lastly, if there is ANYTHING you feel the staff can do to make the races as safe as possible, please feel free to post a comment or send anyone of us a message privately and we will do our best to accommodate any requests.

Thank you all and we look forward to seeing you all in a few days at CRP.

P.S. - Please remember we will have a practice on Saturday and racing on Sunday. Normal race fees on Sunday plus all racers will be required to purchase a single day race license or the full season license. Lastly, please don't forget to PRE-REGISTER at omrlmoto.com!!!!

04/28/20 - Round-1 2020 CRP (CW) - Cancelled

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, we are UNABLE to host Round-1 at CRP. We've tried incredibly hard to get this event to happen, but it just didn't work out.

We are still looking forward to our Round-2 dates to be opening weekend for OMRL 2020 at CRP on May 16 & May 17.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused our racers and their families with such short notice, but we were trying everything we could do to still hold this event.

Stay safe and looking forward to seeing all you racers soon!

04/15/20 - COVID-19 and Round-1 Plans

I'm sure a lot of you have wanted to ask the board (or already have asked) about Round-1 and if we were still planning on having the event.  I wanted to give everyone an update and in short, the plan is still 'YES'.

Stay at Home Quarantine per Governor DeWine is currently scheduled to end May 1st.

Ohio COVID-19 cases were forecasted to peak mid April which would indicate to us that they, hopefully, will not extend the quarantine.  With our first race weekend in May being the 2nd/3rd, we are currently still looking forward to hosting Round-1 at CRP unless the quarantine is extended.  We are hopeful that when the quarantine is lifted, they will lighten some of the event stipulations as well.  If Governor DeWine extends the quarantine in OH or doesn't lighten the 'Large Events and Mass Gatherings' beyond May 1st, we will post updates with our adjustments to the schedule at that time.

With this being said, anyone who is experiencing ANY symptoms of COVID-19 or having been exposed to someone who has a confirmed case of COVID-19 should self quarantine for a min. of 14 days after for the safety of others.

Be safe and stay sanitized!
